My 5 golden rules of social media marketing

5 golden rules of social media marketing

These are my 5 golden rules for businesses to use when using social media marketing to promote their brand social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

1. Make sure your content is interesting and engaging. Users wont appreciate content which is irrelevant and off-topic.

2. When posting on behalf of a business make sure you are not tempted to post personal information.

3. Keep the posts up-to-date and relevant to the brand.

4. Be a good listener and try to respond to all of your customer queries. This will help enhance a good relationship between the brand and consumers.

5. Limit the amount of posts to a maxium of a few a day. People may become frustrated if their timelines/feeds are clogged up with posts from just one account.

Brands are more frequently using humour to aid their marketing campaigns. Three, The UK mobile network, identified that people are more likely to view and share funny video ads rather than more serious ads. Their campaign included a moon walking pony which entertained children and adults alike and at the time of writing has over 8 million views on Youtube and over 1 million shares on facebook.

  1. Some useful tips. But how can businesses provide information of value that will be read rather than just deleted instantly as promotions?
